The Footpath Library, Cowbird & a "Code of Conduct"

I just heard The Footpath Library advertised on a large mainstream radio station and felt happy.  I also felt I should check it out to see how they get around a "code of conduct" and the legalities of running an enterprise which is meant to be easy and well meaning.   One thing I want desperately to avoid is being weighed down and discouraged, to the point of paralysis, by beaurocratic red tape and other such petty yet powerful legal deterrents.Periodically, over the last couple of days I have been putting together a code of conduct for Art Mine.  I had a look at what TuShare have written on their site seeing we will be offering a similar service, and became extreme discouraged by the legal mumbo jumbo.  Really ? Is that really necessary ? If so I will need to employ a lawyer to sort all that stuff out for me because I do not have the knowledge or the patience to work my way through that stuff.  And if by some miracle I do I think I may loose the will to live.I remembered the refreshing approach Johnathan Harris has towards his use of language when it comes to all that sort of stuff with his projects.   Cowbird is one example.  Cowbird was built by Johnathan for people to share stories, typically authentic, personal stories.  He is a digital artist with an intensely ethical approach to software engineering who most recently has turned his focus to tools.  The tone that he uses when writing on the web is very accessible and humble.  I would like to adopt a similar approach to setting the voice for Art Mine.  I want the voice of Art Mine to be authentic to help develop a culture of trust....so I guess I will just be myself, use my own. voice and see how it goes.In the meantime I will investigate how The Footpath Library tackles these issues too.  I can already see that they have a drop down menu in their "about" section which covers their "history" and "values" (in addition to other things) they also have a , " FAQ" page and another drop down menu with all their "Supporters" including "corporate sponsors" and others.  All of  these things seem like good ideas for me to consider.
