Woollahra Small Sculpture Prize, 2016

I am pleased to say that this year I am a finalist in The Woollahra Small Sculpture Prize with my work titled "Blue Gum" (the last time was in 2008 with "Playschool 1080"!).  I made Blue Gum in response to the relentless development of my local Sydney suburbs.  The work reflects the trauma that accompanies the loss of ancient native habitat.  The column structure was made using spotted gum hardwood floorboards that were deemed scrap from a building project. Thick, flowing blue enamel paint was added to imply both blood and tears and to contrast the rigid, man made trunk.Visit the exhibition:15 - 30 October 2016Woollahra Council536 New South Head Road, Double Bay, NSW9am - 5pm weekdays, 10am - 4pm weekends  Blue Gum_Lucy_Barker2
